The first stop on this tour is the Pioneer Theatre auditorium.  The auditorium currently seats nearly 200 patrons and consistently provides patrons with a clean and comfortable movie-viewing environment.

The Pioneer Theatre auditorium received a major renovation in early 2003.  During this time, the old seats were removed and comfortable new seats were installed.  With the installation of new seats, we chose to sacrifice seating capacity for seating quality, and we brought the main floor capacity down from approximately 200 seats to 164 seats.  The new seating is designed primarily for comfort, giving our patrons wider seats and ample legroom.  Special areas for wheelchairs were also placed near the rear auditorium for the convenience of our handicapped patrons.

Another important improvement took place with the installation of a state-of-the-art DTS digital sound system in mid-2006.  The DTS digital sound provides our audiences with the best sound experience possible in a traditional cinema environment.  When this technology was combined with the JBL speakers and subwoofer system, the result was earth shattering.  Our sound sytem is powered by high quality QSC amplifiers that provide a total power output of more than 4,800 watts!  This is not to say that you will be blasted out of your seat; we are always careful to make sure that the movie is not playing at a level that is uncomfortable to our patrons.  With this sound system, we guarantee you the most thrilling sound experience available in Northwest Iowa.

One of the many features which set the Pioneer Theatre apart from others is our balcony.  The balcony provides patrons with a one-of-a-kind movie experience.  The balcony allows patrons to feel as though they are sitting in a smaller auditorium, thus providing a more close and comfortable movie vieing environment.  Unfortunately, the balcony is undergoing renovations and is currently closed.  When the renovations are complete, it will provide an additional 40 seats to movie patrons.
